History and Growth of the Columbia Greene Board of REALTORS®

The Columbia Greene Board of REALTORS® (CGBR) has a rich history rooted in two distinct organizations. The Columbia County Real Estate Board, Inc. was originally chartered in 1936. In 1955, it was renamed the Columbia County Board of REALTORS®, Inc.

Meanwhile, the Greene County Board of REALTORS® was established in 1961. These two regional boards served their respective counties independently until 2001, when they officially merged to form the Columbia Greene Board of REALTORS®, Inc. (CGBR)—a unified organization committed to supporting real estate professionals in both counties.

Building on this legacy of collaboration, another major milestone was reached in November 2024. Members of the Columbia Greene Board of REALTORS® (CGBR) and the Ulster County Board of REALTORS® (UCBR) voted to merge their associations. This strategic unification aims to strengthen regional real estate, enhance resources, promote greater collaboration, and provide elevated service for real estate professionals and their clients across the expanded region.
