Northern Dutchess County, situated squarely in the Mid-Hudson Valley, is only an hour-and-a-half away from New York City. The area was originally populated by Native Americans, and was “discovered” by Henry Hudson in 1609. Northern Dutchess has a recorded history that spans four hundred years.

View local artists’ work in the shop windows in Clinton during its yearly Art Rocks auction. Spend a day “at the beach” or rambling along a forest walking trail at Wilcox Memorial Park. Spend an afternoon at the Bard campus in the Red Hook hamlet of Annandale-on-Hudson, taking in the tremendous variety of architectural styles, including the Hessel Museum of Art and Frank Gheary’s spectacularly designed Fisher Center for the Performing Arts. Visit the historic properties and homes, one of the numerous wineries along the Dutchess Wine Trail, shop for antiques, or simply stop along the Hudson River and enjoy the view.
